Description

The Chief Workshop Manager (CWM) acts as the business owner and has ultimate responsibility for all operations of the store. The Chief Workshop Manager is accountable for effectively teaching, training and coaching a high performing team that achieves sales goals, meets BABW brand standards and delivers operational excellence. The Chief Workshop Manager uses good judgment to make decisions within the company’s guidelines and partners with his/her Area/District Manager when appropriate. All associates in the store report directly to the CWM.

Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Motivates and inspires the store team by delivering a compelling vision and purpose which encompasses the Build-A-Bear Workshop Core Values
  • Consistently models the Experience First® standards and behaviours
  • Creates and communicates clear action plans that optimize results and ensures effective execution of all activities
  • Delegates effectively with management and associate team
  • Maintains a positive and motivational style in all communication and actions to promote productivity and ownership
  • Proactively seeks personal learning and development opportunities to build leadership skills and enhance individual performance

Drives for Results

  • Analyses the business and makes real-time strategic business decisions to drive results
  • Maximizes profitability by achieving sales objectives and monitoring expenses that are in line with company expectations
  • Builds a highly satisfied and loyal Guest base through engagement, conversion and capturing Guest information in the loyalty program

Builds High-Performing Teams

  • Identifies, recruits, hires and retains a high performing management and associate team
  • Consistently assesses and provides ongoing performance feedback, through real-time coaching, and the performance review process
  • Drives employee engagement by recognizing and rewarding employees for outstanding performance
  • Confronts and addresses performance issues or conflicts in a timely and consistent manner
  • Insures clear, consistent communication to the entire team

Operates with Excellence

  • Manages payroll to agreed budgets and forecasting compliance
  • Ensures store is always Grand Opening ready by following opening and closing procedures
  • Operates and maintains all IT systems in accordance with BABW policies and procedures
  • Adheres to and enforces all BABW store security and cash management policies and procedures

Executes the Brand Story

  • Maintaining the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Executes visual presentation standards using BABW visual standard guidelines and store presentation tools
  • Maintains impeccable housekeeping and maintenance standards through proper training and delegation

All other tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • 2 to 4 years of total retail management experience with a proven, successful track record in a Guest-centric business
  • An exceptional record of leading and developing a high energy, passionate team
  • Sales focused while engaging Guests in creating a fun, memorable experience
  • Passionate, ambitious and success oriented and a model of professional and personal integrity
  • Accountable for results; takes pride and ownership of store operations

Overview

Sales Assistants are fun, genuine, and team oriented individuals who contribute to store sales and Guest satisfaction goals by providing individual and groups of Guests a unique and memorable "WOW" experience. Providing this experience includes, but is not limited to, assisting with choosing, stuffing, dressing, naming, and purchasing their new furry friends, while maintaining store visual and housekeeping standards.

Accountabilities

  • Provide a personalised, enjoyable and memorable experience for Guests of all ages
  • Create a great First Impression in the Shopping Centre
  • Greet all Guest that visit our store and welcome them to Build a Bear Workshop
  • Explain the Build-A-Bear Workshop process to all guests that are visiting
  • Engage Guests in conversation
  • Assist Guests in choosing, stuffing, dressing, naming, and taking home (purchasing) a new furry friend
  • Contribute to total store results by recommending items to maximise sales and enhance the Guest’s experience
  • Deliver an outstanding and magical Heart Ceremony that is specific to each individual Guest after they stuff their bear
  • Insure Guests are aware that we offer parties for all ages and all occasions
  • Support our company party commitments by delivering a great party experience
  • Knowledge of workshop sales goals, Guest satisfaction expectations, and promotional objectives
  • Maintain visual and housekeeping standards to create the brand experience unique to Build-A-Bear Workshop
  • Delivery handling and general sales floor and back office housekeeping
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • All other tasks as may be assigned by store management
